Publishing a book involves numerous steps. Once the book itself is complete, properly edited, and the cover designed, then it’s time to move forward toward making it available to the public. One of the first steps is to register it with Bowker with a unique ISBN, which identifies the book in one format only; more than one is needed if you plan to release your book in both ebook and printed formats. If you want to make your book available to libraries, it’s important to have a catalog block on the copyright page to help librarians categorize it properly. When the final version is in print, then it can also be submitted to register the copyright with the federal government.
